Bloodshed Across the Empyrean Altar Beyond the Celestial Zenith

Season of Mist

August 16th, 2016

Probably the most anticipated release of this year! Bloodshed Across the Empyrean Altar Beyond the Celestial Zenith was officially out at the end of August through Season of Mist. Without going into a greater detail, it’s a masterpiece! Dagon and Incubus set a really high bar to reach with the previous record, Obscure Verses for the Multiverse. Personally, I thought they’ve done the best they could already but this new thirteen song beast exceeded all my expectations and I feel really bad for not believing in the band I absolutely adore.

After the short and interesting intro, the first riffs of From Chaos They Came are unleashed and there is no doubt that this album will be heavy and fast as never before. Dagon implemented and worked his style of playing throughout each record. As soon as you hear the first chord, you instantly know that is Inquisition. His creativity and idea of black metal is hugely respected around the globe. Again this is one of the albums where it’s really a hard task to find any boring moments. As in previous Inquisition albums, we can find mixture of tempo changes which affect the mood and atmosphere of each song individually. There’re fast songs on this record and killer groove ones.

My personal favourites are, the blasting fast Vortex from the Celestial Flying Throne of Storms and Mystical Blood as well as Through the Divine Spirit of Satan a Glorious Universe Is Known. There slower songs like Power from the Center of the Cosmic Black Spiral and A Black Aeon Shall Cleanse which strognly contribute to the core of the new Inquisition work. I wouldn’t dare to comment on the lyrical concept of this record or in fact any of the Inquisition releases. Recently I’ve watched an interesting interview with Dagon and he explained a lot about the topics he writes about. It’s a very complicated matter if you don’t know much about ancient rituals, history and cosmology. Dedication and higher purpose speaks through the entire album. You can get this album on the official Season of Mist webshop in six different versions including some bargain bundles. Creme de la creme!!
